NOW is the time to support our artists and save a very important print work shop in Washington DC, Union Printmakers Atelier. Scip Barnhart, owner of Union Printmakers Atelier, is one of the last master printers and he is in grave danger of loosing his workshop and all that is in it. This would be a major loss to the art world. For years Scip Barnhart has taught at the Corcoran, George Washington University and privately in his workshop. He is a master printer and has printed hundreds of editions for professional printmakers here and elsewhere in the US. He has lectured on printmaking throughout the US. I can think of no one more dedicated to prints and their creation than Scip Barnhart.
This is why we; Washington artists, Jane Haslem Gallery, Washington Printmakers Gallery, and other DC dealers are showing/selling our prints on July 7th and July 21. The events will feature different artists.
