The Trawick Prize
 
Bethesda Contemporary Art Awards


Creative Partners Gallery is pleased to announce that we will be showing the work of up to fifteen finalists of the Trawick Prize: Bethesda Contemporary Art Awards. The 5th annual juried art competition awards $14,000 in prize monies to four selected artists.

The first place winner will be awarded $10,000; second place will be honored with $2,000 and third place will be awarded $1,000. A “young” artist whose birth date is after April 10, 1977, will also receive $1,000.

The 2007 competition will be juried by Rex R. Stevens, Chair of the General Fine Arts and Drawing Departments at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore; Amy G. Moorefield, Assistant Director and Curator for Virginia Commonwealth University’s Anderson Gallery and Anne Ellegood, Associate Curator, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.

Catriona Fraser, award-winning photographer, curator and juror is the non-voting Chair of the Trawick Prize. Ms. Fraser has directed the Fraser Gallery with locations in Bethesda, MD and Washington, D.C. since 1996.

The Trawick Prize was established by local business owner, Carol Trawick. Ms. Trawick has served as a community activist for more than 25 years in downtown Bethesda. She is Chair of the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District and was past chair of the Bethesda Urban Partnership, Inc. Ms. Trawick is the former owner of an information technology company in Bethesda, Trawick & Associates.
