Made possible by the Baryshnikov Arts Center and the Lorton Arts Foundation, A Traveling Show Installation will make its official World Premiere at the Workhouse December 5th through 7th. Together with five dancers, filmmaker Kevin Freeman, and photographer George Lange, Aszure Barton has orchestrated a body of work inspired by the inner lives (and theatrical past lives) of the performers. Drawing from her collaborators both as individuals and as family, this work was born from an intense seven-week residency at the Baryshnikov Arts Center. During this time, the Company developed work for stage, film, and photography. As a part of the process, the Company traveled to an intimate East Village Theater (Duo Theater) where its dark beauty provided a dreamlike environment for this magical dance journey. Aszure Barton & Artists will perform A Traveling Show Installation to the musical works of Venetian Snares, George Frederic Handel, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Les Yeux Noirs, Jean-Marie Leclair, Sidney Perrin and Bob Slater, Conjunto Son 14, Johnny Cash and others.
