LIFT US UP, DON’T PUSH US OUT asks the question, how would criminal justice reform differ if it was led by incarcerated youth?
Connecting incarcerated youth at the Richmond Juvenile Detention Center with artists, legal experts, and advocates to radically reimagine Virginia’s juvenile justice system, this exhibition provides the answer. Including virtual reality experiences, photography, murals, and interactive audio installations that use human touch to activate stories from youth in the system, their media campaigns and mobile exhibits have connected the dreams, stories, and policy demands of youth in the juvenile justice system with tens of thousands across Virginia and beyond.
Free and open to the public.
The exhibit was curated by Mark Strandquist, and will be on view January 9-February 3.
